More about Sam
I'm a 26-year-old from Washington, Missouri. The main thing that the instagram crowd knows about me is that I'm a medical student. I'm currently in my 4th year doing clinical rotations, and if all goes according to plan, I'll graduate from Kansas City University in 2019 and become a doctor. There's a lot more to me than just being a med student, although that does currently take up a large portion of my life!
When I have time to have a life, I enjoy going bowling and playing basketball, crocheting (mostly Scootbuttons dolls), solving brainteasers, wood carving, going to the movies, and spending time with Scooter. I have a handful of TV shows I keep up with: Shameless, Rick and Morty, The Walking Dead, Black Mirror, Orange is the New Black, Sherlock, and too many more to list without making this blurb boring. I used to read a little bit when I wasn't reading textbooks. I'm a Douglas Adams fan, and I'm slowly working my way through his books, when I have the time.
Circling back to school, and to answer a popular question I get: My plan is to go into internal medicine, and hopefully get certified in HIV care. I had a great rotation at a primary care practice that catered to LGBTQ patients and HIV patients, and it was amazing. I'm hoping to make a career out of it!
I'm a big believer in the idea that if you put good out into the world, you're likely to see the good come back to you in some way. That's been proven to me through Scooter's instagram page. So many people have thanked us in various ways for the content on her page, and it makes me think that this might be the largest positive impact I've made on the world in my life so far. It's incredibly validating to hear that a can bring joy to so many people simply by dedicating 10 minutes of my day to something I enjoy doing.
I don't like to focus too much on myself on the scoot.butt instagram page, although I do post about Scooter from my perspective. I've been creeping into the posts a lot more as the page goes on. Occasionally I'll have a sappy Sam-and-Scoot post, but I really like the page to be about her. She truly is one of the best things to ever happen to me, and showing people that has been great. I look forward to continuing to share Scooter with the world!
