More about Sam

I'm a 30-year-old from Washington, Missouri.  When visiting the scoot.butt instagram page, one the most frequently mentioned things about me is that I’m in the medical field. I graduated medical school from Kansas City University, Class of 2019. I also completed my residency in Primary Care Internal Medicine at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis in June 2022. I’m currently working as a primary care doctor in St. Louis.  There's a lot more to me than just being a medical professional, although that does currently take up a large portion of my life!

When I have time to have a life, I enjoy going bowling and playing basketball, crocheting (mostly Scootbuttons dolls), solving brainteasers, wood carving, going to the movies, and spending time with Scooter.  I have a ton of shows I try to keep up with watching. A recent hobby I’ve been getting into is woodworking. I know very little about that kind of work, but I like to test out my abilities every now and again with small projects. It’s definitely something I’d like to learn more about and pursue as a side hustle in the future if I can.

Circling back to career aspirations, and to answer a popular question I get:  My plan is to be a primary care doctor, which I already am! Future goals include helping run the practice of which I’m now a part, becoming more involved in HIV care (both in general and in the St. Louis area as a whole), and seeing where that takes me!

I'm a big believer in the idea that if you put good out into the world, you're likely to see the good come back to you in some way.  That's been proven to me through Scooter's instagram page.  So many people have thanked us in various ways for the content on her page, and it makes me think that this might be the largest positive impact I've made on the world in my life so far.  It's incredibly validating to hear that a can bring joy to so many people simply by dedicating 10 minutes of my day to something I enjoy doing.

I don't like to focus too much on myself on the scoot.butt instagram page, although I do post about Scooter from my perspective.  I've been creeping into the posts a lot more as the page goes on.  Occasionally I'll have a sappy Sam-and-Scoot post, but I really like the page to be about her.  She truly is one of the best things to ever happen to me, and showing people that has been great.  I look forward to continuing to share Scooter with the world!
